Our Story

Blackheath Jewellery is a boutique jewellery shop located in the upper Blue Mountains.

Jeweller and owner, Irene Byrne, has over 37 years experience in the jewellery industry, with an innate passion for antiques.

Her extensive manufacturing training and knowledge of antiques has brought Irene a broad client base internationally and Australia wide, with an impeccable reputation throughout the Blue Mountains.

The business is highly sought after for manufacturing and restoration of jewellery, with Irene being one of the few jewellers aptly able to restore antique pieces.

Today, Blackheath Jewellery has become a well established, family run business with Irene’s two older children having joined the team.

Her daughter, Jana completed her two years study of Gemmology at the Gemmological Association of Australia in 2007 and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Design at the University of New South Wales in March 2012.

Jana joined Blackheath Jewellery in late 2012 as the head designer and manager of online sales. She has become an imperative part of the designing team, sourcing antique pieces globally as well as creating beautiful custom made jewellery locally in Australia.

She recently completed her Practical Diamond Grading in June 2016 at the Gemmological Association of Australia and continues to help Blackheath Jewellery transition and grow.

Irene’s son Andrew joined the Blackheath Jewellery team in 2015. Graduating with Distinctions from the Gemmological Association of Australia in a Diploma of Gemmology, he was awarded the NSW Management Committee Award for the Highest Mark.

Andrew’s passion for diamonds has led him to further his education in this field, graduating in a Diploma of Practical Diamond Grading in June 2016.

Today, Andrew travels and sources pieces for us globally. He is an imperative member of our management team and helps control the high quality standards that Blackheath Jewellery is best known for.
